About NOx Sensor

NOx Sensors started being implemented on trucks and other diesel vehicles to measure the content of nitrogen oxides in diesel exhaust gas. 

These NOx sensors live in one of the most volatile environments a sensor can live in. NOx sensors are exposed to extremely high exhaust gas temps, soot, diesel fuel being sprayed for DPF regen and all the harsh gasses from the combustion process.
These Nitrogen Oxide sensors have a relatively short life, especially in trucks that rack up a lot of miles. NOx sensors become clogged with soot and buildup from in the emissions system on the truck and begin giving inaccurate readings. 

When these sensors aren't functioning properly, your SCR system isn't functioning properly. That can mean significantly poorer fuel mileage, increased regens, and increased stress on the emissions system – which can lead to increased fatigue and failures of other components in the system.
